Since 1961, Lyons Service Center, Inc., has served the Cascade community with convenience items, fuel, auto repair service, and towing all in the same corner location. This family owned and operated business has been essential to the Cascade locals. In the summer of 2019, the business transitioned ownership from Pat and Betty Lyons to Jake and Jackie McAllister. Jake and Jackie are not only Cascade locals but also owners of several businesses in the area as well. Their beliefs in keeping local businesses alive, supporting the community, and taking care of the buildings make them a great fit for this business.
When the McAllister’s purchased the building in 2019, they took on transformative renovations both inside and outside the building. With the help of local businesses in the area, including our crew at McAllister Electrical Services, we were able to turn their dreams into a reality.
The interior of the project involved aesthetic changes with fresh paint, new flooring, and modern décor. We also assisted in reworking the functional layout of the convenience store by relocating some of the coolers and freezers, notching out a wall to change the location of their famous soft-serve ice cream machine, and updating the flow of traffic in the store.
In the Fall of 2020, our crew continued their hard work with the exterior upgrades. With the help of local contractors and skilled professionals, we were able to upgrade and modernize their pumps both above and below the ground, relocate their signage, and supply power to their store. The upgrades created additional parking and easy access to the pump for large semis, trucks, and other equipment.
Fifty-eight years on the same corner, in the same town, with the same family-centered ideals. Lyons Service Center Inc., carries a wide assortment of products from locally owned small businesses including: Edgewood Meats, Bootleg Salsa, Welter Seed & Honey Co., Templeton Iowa Bloody Mary Mix, Betsy’s BBQ sauce, Sterzing’s Chips, Chad’s Pizza, and a variety of convenience items as well.
